It is in Pau and nowhere else that the Electric Touring Car World Cup will be held for the very first time from 6 to 8 May, before six other rounds in Istanbul, Hungary, Spain (Jarama), Belgium (Zolder), Italy (Vallelunga) and South Korea (Inje). What a pleasant tribute from the FIA to grant the historical circuit of Pau a world premiere, that is part of a major evolution of car manufacturers.
The Electric Touring Car World Cup has therefore earned its “FIA” designation in its second season of operation. In 2022, a much broader calendar is planned, focusing on the most famous European circuits, including Pau, the most beautiful of them for the world launch.
The FIA ETCR – eTouring Car World Cup is the world’s first all-electric multi-brand touring car competition. Drivers compete in a series of short battles, in which they collect points and progress to the Super Finals.
The electric cars, true racing beasts, deliver a power of 500 kW (670 bhp) with energy stored in the battery supplied by Williams Advanced Engineering and powered by the gearbox, the engine and the Magelec Propulsion inverters. The cars’ batteries are refuelled in front of the public in less than an hour by means of an impressive hydrogen energy station based in the heart of the Tissié paddock, and supplied by the Fébus hydrogen station.
